Topa Insurance Company Honored as “Great Workplace” by Independent Global Authority

CALABASAS, Calif. – (May 30, 2017) -- Topa Insurance Company was certified as an excellent workplace by Great Place to Work®, an independent global authority on high-performance workplace cultures. Topa Insurance Company was awarded based on extensive ratings provided by more than 80 percent of its employees in anonymous surveys. A summary of these ratings can be found at http://reviews.greatplacetowork.com/topa-insurance-company.

“Our progressive leadership is passionate about creating a rewarding workplace, increasing employee engagement and improving business results. Everyone supports this vision and we've made incredible advancements in the last three years,” said William Robinson, Vice President of Human Resources at Topa Insurance Group. “We have a very modern work space that reflects the values of collaboration and teamwork. While I understand that we will always have room to grow, I am proud of what we are creating each day.”

John Donahue, President & Chief Executive Officer of Topa Insurance Group, joined the company in 2014. “I was very pleased to hear about our certification as a Great Place to Work®,” said Donahue. “I believe that employee engagement is one of the most important measurements in determining a company’s health. Topa is focused on doing the work necessary to continually improve our employee engagement.”

After more than 30 years in the same office, in December 2015, Topa Insurance moved its headquarters from Century City to a more modern, open floorplan in Calabasas, California. Employees credited the “state of the art facilities”, “startup” atmosphere, employee recognition and “Fun Committee” as key contributors to their positive responses. In 2014, Topa initiated a Fun Committee run by non-management employees to coordinate events, contests and other initiatives throughout the year.  The committee has hosted a Bay Cruise, March Madness contests, field trips and barbeques, just to name a few.  Additionally, upon moving into its new office, Topa began hosting monthly networking events, dubbed Third Thursday at Topa, open to customers, business associates, competitors, friends, family, and interested potential future employees.

"We applaud Topa Insurance Company for seeking certification and releasing its employees' feedback," said Kim Peters, Executive Vice President of Great Place to Work's Certification Program. "These ratings measure its capacity to earn its own employees' trust and create a great workplace - critical metrics that anyone considering working for or doing business with Topa Insurance Company should take into account as an indicator of high performance."

Topa Insurance Company employees completed 75 surveys, resulting in a 90 percent confidence level and a margin of error of ± 4.00.
